| Experiencing Exmoor |
What do you feel like doing today? Take in a festival or country show? Go on a ‘sea-side
safari’ amongst rock pools? Watch medieval re-enactment, birds of prey on display or a
demonstration of
local crafts?
Perhaps even a boat trip, or spend a day sea fishing?
There’s so much to experience on and around Exmoor.
Festivals, for example – a walking festival along
the Coleridge Way; a celebration of books,
photos, poetry and performance at the lively Arts
Festival in Porlock; the majestic Watchet Carnival
Weekend; ‘Knights and Maidens Days’ at Dunster
Castle; Minehead’s international Music Festival.
Village celebrations – how about a tug-of-war at
Parracombe Revels, the charity cricket match at
Challacombe, or a look at the ponies, ducks and
chickens at Bampton Charter Fair?
Organised activities – they range from rock pool
safaris and country walks to Wet ‘n’ Active Days at
Wimbleball Lake, climbing festivals at South
Molton’s Mill Adventure Centre, and the annual
Easter Egg hunt at Dunster Castle.

| Concerts and shows are held in every season all
across the region; there are cinemas at Barnstaple
and Lynton, and theatres at Barnstaple, Ilfracombe
and Minehead and open-air performance abound. |
 |
Folk music is strong at various pubs from the Ship
at Porlock Weir to the Top George at Combe Martin
– be brave and join in, that’s what it’s all about!
And of course you’re liable to come across the West
Somerset Morris Dancers outside a country pub, or
buskers on the pavement, or a juggler on the
seafront, just about anywhere you go…
